Participants were Finnish American emigrants (N = 38) who had lived in an English speaking environment for over 20 years. \n\nTo contrast the participants and enable comparisons at group level a control group of Finnish speakers living in Finland (N = 50) were included. Aineisto koostuu 38 aikuiselta amerikansuomalaiselta elisitoidusta vapaasta suomen- ja englanninkielisestä puheesta, sosiolingvistisen kyselyn vastauksista sekä suomenkielisen WUG-testin vastauksista. Tutkimuksen osallistujat olivat muuttaneet Suomesta Yhdysvaltoihin aikuisina tai myöhäislapsuudessa ja he olivat asuneet Yhdysvalloissa vähintään 20 vuotta. \n\nRyhmätason vertailua varten tutkimuksessa kerättiin verrokkiaineisto Suomessa asuvilta suomenpuhujilta (N=50).
